Your role as Application Research Engineer
Your mission is to equip our mobile robots with customized intelligence, with a strong emphasis on Machine Vision and AI. Customer intimacy is central to our approach, and every customer has unique products and requirements. You are able to propose a scalable approach and suggest new functionalities. You are involved in both customer projects and the implementation of our research roadmap.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Innovation & Development: You will develop and implement the latest vision software for our Nipper autonomous pallet transporter and stretch hood solutions. This includes custom features such as end product quality control, pallet identification, and load dimension analysis.
- Identifying new features: With your customer-focused insight, you actively identify new features that add direct, measurable value for the customer.
- Data collection & Validation: You help build a structured database and seek out collaborations to efficiently train and validate new AI models.
- Project implementation: You will work closely with the installation team and set up the software side of customer projects on site (after a training period). You will take this practical experience with you and apply it to your research work.
- Knowledge sharing: You will provide clear documentation and actively share your in-depth expertise with your colleagues in R&D.
Who we are looking for
- You are a driven engineer with a passion for robotics and vision and a talent for efficiently setting up scalable vision solutions in intralogistics.
- You have a university or college degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., mechanical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering) with a strong focus on vision.
- You have demonstrable experience in bringing vision algorithms and AI models from concept to implementation (preferably in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or similar industrial systems).
- Knowledge of and/or experience with autonomous mobile robots is a big plus.
- You are fluent in both Dutch and English (spoken andwritten) and are willing to travel occasionally for projects or testing.
- You are independent, structured in your work, and excel at linking theory and practice.
- You are a creative team player who shows initiative and actively contributes ideas for improving our products.
